The Ceremony takes place at the Veterans' Monument located in the corner of Monmouth Street and Drummond Place. For the 2023 Service, we will begin at 11:00 AM approximately. June is Black Music Month & Celebrating Juneteenth!
We will be having our annual Juneteenth celebration event, where we will come together to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States and honor the sacrifices and contributions of Black Americans throughout history. The event will take place on June 18th beginning at 12:30 with a parade from Pilgrim Baptist Church (172 Shrewsbury Avenue) to Johnny Jazz Park.
The celebration will be from 1 to 4 pm at Johnny Jazz Park, which will include live music, guest speakers, free food, and more! We hope that you will join us for this special day of remembrance, reflection, and celebration. Don't miss out on the opportunity to be a part of this important event! T. Thomas Fortune Foundation & Cultural Center and Pilgrim Baptist Church will also be organizing events throughout the month of June. Please see the following flyers for more information on these Juneteenth events.
