The 15-year old track at Count Basie Park is scheduled to be under construction starting Monday, July 1, 2019. The project is expected to be completed by August 1, 2019, weather permitting. The aging and crumbling track has outlived its useful life and the project scope includes removal and disposal of the existing material, as well as installation of a new Beynon Sports BSS-100 IAAF-certified red polyurethane Synthetic track surface with new striping. The project also includes purchase of an Aer-Flo track protection mat to safeguard against damage from cleats, shoes, and wheeled equipment.
A contract was authorized by the Mayor & Council upon adoption of Resolution 19-165 on June 19, 2019. The contractor, FieldTurf USA, in conjunction with American Athletic Courts, Inc., submitted a competitive proposal for $242,580 based on the the Borough of Red Bank's voluntary membership in the Educational Services Commission of New Jersey Cooperative Pricing System. The cost of the project and other future improvements will be partially shared with Red Bank Catholic High School under a new four-year Participation and Contribution Agreement approved on June 19, 2019.
