New payment kiosks have been delivered and installed at the English Plaza Lot as part of the recently completed streetscape project. These kiosks incorporate new pay-by-plate program for parking starting Saturday, November 23, 2019. To assist customers with familiarization of this new program, instructional signage has been posted throughout the parking lot and parking enforcement officers will be providing warnings during a brief grace period.
In addition to paying for parking at a kiosk, customers can pay for public parking throughout Red Bank using the mPay2Park mobile app (Apple & Android).
The transition to a pay-by-plate program is one recommendation made by independent experts, Walker Consultants, as part of a comprehensive parking study report issued on January 10, 2019. Following the public presentation of the report, the Borough of Red Bank has taken steps to follow many of the recommendations in the report. Some of the many advantages of a pay-by-plate program include better permit management, more efficient enforcement, and ease of use for customers. A full roll-out of the pay-by-plate program for all municipal parking lots is anticipated for Spring 2020, along with new, cutting-edge smart meters for on-street parking spaces. These parking improvements and others to come are funded by Parking Utility revenues independent of property taxes.
