[ARCHIVED] Tropical Storm (Isaias) Warning - August 3-5, 2020

Borough of Red Bank, New Jersey

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, that includes a Tropical Storm Warning and Flash Flood Watch, for our region that is in effect until 12 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Tropical Storm Isaias is currently located just offshore of the northeast Florida coast. The storm is expected to continue northward along the East Coast. It will likely move inland over the Carolinas this evening and approach our region by late tonight and especially Tuesday. Impacts should diminish by Wednesday morning.

A Tropical Storm Warning means tropical storm-force winds are expected somewhere within this area within the next 36 hours.  Tropical Storm force winds of 45-55 mph with gusts to 75 mph may occur Tuesday afternoon until Tuesday evening.  Potential impacts may include:

  • Damage to porches, awnings, carports, and sheds. Unsecured lightweight objects may be blown about.
  • Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted.
  • Some fences and roadway signs blown over.
  • A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban or heavily wooded places.
  • Hazardous driving conditions on bridges and other elevated roadways.
  • Scattered power and communications outages.

Borough of Red Bank emergency management, public safety and law enforcement personnel are monitoring the situation and departments are taking necessary precautions to prepare and respond.  Updates will be available on the municipal website at www.redbanknj.org
