- The Borough of Red Bank Mayor & Council, Administration, Office of Emergency Management, Police Department and Fire Department continue to monitor the developing situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. We would like to remind everyone of the importance of following the State, County and Municipal directives and orders concerning social distancing to slow further spread of COVID-19 in New Jersey. Follow the steps and guidelines from the CDC at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html to prepare and protect yourself and your family. - Monmouth County is offering free COVID-19 testing at various locations, including Red Bank. No appointments are necessary and you do not have to be symptomatic. Click here for more information, locations and dates/times.
- The Borough of Red Bank Municipal Building remains closed to the public. All municipal employees continue to report to work and are serving the public by telephone, e-mail, regular mail or fax. Contact information for various municipal offices and employees as well as online services are available on the Borough website (www.redbanknj.org). However, individuals may make an appointment for assistance with matters that cannot be addressed remotely by contacting the appropriate department.
- The next scheduled Council Regular Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, 6:30 p.m.. The November Council meeting schedule includes a Workshop Meeting on Wednesday, November 4th, 6:30 p.m. and Regular Meetings on Tuesday, November 10th and Tuesday, November 24th, 6:30 p.m. (Rescheduled from the usual Wednesday due to holidays). Because of the restrictions on public gatherings that impact the ability of the Borough of Red Bank to meet in the traditional manner of gathering at the municipal building, the Mayor & Council will conduct this meeting using electronic means that will allow for the public to participate. - Construction on White Street has concluded. The White Street Parking Lot remains under construction while utility companies relocate their infrastructure, after which the project will be completed shortly thereafter.
- We continue to seek cost-savings in Borough operations. Following the announcement this year about the transition to the Monmouth County Health Department that represented a nearly 45% savings annually to Red Bank taxpayers, the Mayor & Council authorized a new Shared Services Agreement with Freehold Township for municipal IT services which will save the Borough approximately $100,000 a year.
- The annual Borough Road Improvement Program is underway. The FY2019/CY2020 project includes improvements on Hillside Place, Prospect Avenue, Globe Court, Wallace Street, Hudson Avenue, Reckless Place, River Street, Oakland Street, and Chapin Avenue. This project is funded through a bond ordinance adopted on May 22, 2019 by the Mayor and Council. The scope of work includes milling and asphalt resurfacing of approximately 10,000 linear feet of roadway, concrete sidewalk and curb ramp upgrades at various intersections to ensure ADA compliance, and crosswalk improvements. The project was advertised for public bidding and nine bids were received on August 13, 2020. The lowest responsible bid of $1,137,797.45 was submitted by Fiore Paving Company, Inc., of Oceanport, New Jersey. The Mayor and Council adopted Resolution 20-189 on August 19, 2020 to award the contract. Engineering and construction administration is being performed by CME Associates. Barring unforeseen circumstances and inclement weather conditions, the construction is expected to take 75 days with a tentative completion date of December 20, 2020. Please pardon this temporary construction interruption and we would like to thank both residents and motorists in advance for their continued cooperation and patience. - Curbside leaf collection resumes beginning Thursday, November 5th for properties west of Broad Street and Thursday, November 12th for properties east of Broad Street. - Red Bank Parks and Recreation have been busy planning the 73rd Annual Halloween Parade for Sunday, October 25th, a spooktacular Halloween Story Time for Tuesday, October 27th, and other wonderful safe, socially-distanced activities. - Monmouth County ACTS has published a Community Resource Guide in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to provide assistance for seniors in a wide range of information and contacts for food delivery, pharmacies, caregiver support, financial assistance and so much more. - NJ Mental Health Cares, the state’s behavioral health information and referral service, is offering help to people dealing with anxiety and worry related to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. New Jerseyans can call 1-866-202-HELP (4357) for free, confidential support. NJ Mental Health Cares will be answered from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week by live trained specialists.
