[ARCHIVED] Borough Meetings to be held virtually, masks required in Borough Hall

Borough of Red Bank - Administration

Press Release

On January 14, 2022 Mayor Pasquale Menna issued a Declaration of Emergency regarding the ongoing public health crisis.  We have experienced over the past twenty-two months unprecedented illness and death, locally and around the world. In recent weeks the Omicron variant has proven to be highly contagious and has spread rapidly increasing the positivity rate and increasing hospital admissions.  In order to protect the health and well-being of our residents, visitors and employees and to do our part locally in supporting our hospitals and health care workers the mayor and governing body agree with health officials that the utilization of masks will slow the spread of this virus.

Therefore, this Declaration of Emergency mandates that in all Borough owned facilities, all visitors and employees must wear a proper mask or face covering while indoors except under very limited circumstances where prolonged social distancing is possible.  Separately, the governing body, with the agreement of our land use boards and commissions have determined that in person public meetings shall not occur and that all such meetings shall be held virtually until such time as the public health situation improves to a point that it is safe to reconvene in person.

In addition to addressing borough owned facilities, the Declaration of Emergency strongly recommends that all places of public accommodation, to include retail establishments, restaurants and places of worship, require all occupants to wear masks or face coverings and further, that said locations should prominently display signage regarding the importance of wearing masks.  The Declaration of Emergency shall take effect at 5 o’clock on January 14, 2022 and shall continue in place until rescinded by the Mayor when appropriate based on the current health environment.
