The Fall Fire Hydrant Flushing Program will begin on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM and is scheduled to take three days to complete.
This annual program involves systematically opening fire hydrant valves to allow water to flow through the pipes. The process helps to:
- Enhance water quality by flushing sediment from the main line pipes.
- Verify the proper operation of hydrants and valves.
- Ensure hydrants are fully operational in case of a fire emergency.
What to Expect:
During the flushing program, you may experience a temporary drop in water pressure or discolored water. If this occurs, please follow these steps:
- Shut off the tap immediately.
- Wait several minutes, then check the clarity of the water by running cold water only for a few minutes. Allow fresh water to circulate into your pipes.
- Avoid running hot water or washing laundry until the water runs clear from the tap.
The Borough thanks you for your patience and understanding during this important maintenance process.
