Letter From the Director

Best Practices - Red Bank Senior Citizens Center

How about a game of Bridge? Would you like to join a Book Club? Have you seen any good movies lately? Want to learn about computers, crafts, or join in on our monthly lunch tour? Do you enjoy a good meal, camaraderie and a warm and welcoming home like environment? The Red Bank Senior Center may be just what you need.

If you are a physically independent, mentally active red bank resident, 60 years of age or older, you may join us. There is an easy registration process (no fee) and only you can decide how much or how little you may wish to participate.

The Red Bank Senior Center is widely considered to be one of the most scenic centers in New Jersey, located on a high bluff overlooking the historic Navesink River at 80 Shrewsbury Avenue.

We are a muti-purpose activity center. The facility is a one story ranch style structure and is handicapped accessible. Currently we provide services to more than 1,200 seniors each month. We have serviced this community for over 50 years.

Our mission is to help make growing older more fulfilling, rewarding and meaningful to each of our members, by offering opportunities that satisfy our member's mental, social and educational needs. We strive to cultivate an atmosphere of belonging, usefulness, self-fulfillment and friendship.

We offer door-to-door transportation for our members and weekly shopping trips to local food markets. Our classes and programs include Daily Exercise Classes, Weekly Crafts, Yoga and Chair Yoga, Knitting and Sewing. We also offer Art Classes and a Book Club. We sponsor weekly Bridge, Bingo and Pokeno games. We enjoy summer cookouts, Holiday Parties, Lunch Tours, Movie Trips and sponsor many diverse day trips.

We supply a nutritious noon time meals for our members and coordinate the delivery of more than 100 meals daily to our homebound and shut in seniors with the assistance of Interfaith Neighbors and outstanding local volunteers.

There are monthly Health visits by a Parker Family Clinic nurse, yearly flu shot clinics and eye screenings. We provide medical transportation for registered members to local Doctor Appointments.

We coordinate Intergenerational Programs with children from Monmouth Day Care Center, the Red Bank School Systems (elementary, middle and high school) and the Boys and Girls Club.

You are welcomed to come and join us.

Call us at 732-747-5204 to arrange to register, or to just come in and take a look.

We look forward to meeting you!
